◆ FOUNDING DOCUMENT
Indian Venture Labs · Founding Document · May 2026
Indian Venture Labs began with a dream — to make the data, the stories, and the green shoots of India’s startup world more accessible to the people who wanted to understand them. India had built one of the most extraordinary entrepreneurial ecosystems on the planet. Founders were launching, capital was flowing, companies were scaling. And yet so much of it was happening quietly — the early breakthroughs, the small wins, the companies finding their footing — largely invisible to the very people who cared most about them.
Shelvin had spent years working across international markets — in Australia, the United Kingdom, Japan, and across Asia — watching India’s ecosystem accelerate from the outside while working within global business environments that took structured market intelligence entirely for granted. Every time he looked closely at what was emerging in India — the female founders building quietly in Hyderabad, the deeptech ventures in Bangalore, the fintech operators in Mumbai — he found that the stories and data around these companies were scattered, incomplete, or buried behind pricing built for institutions rather than individuals. Thiru, working from within the ecosystem in India, experienced the same thing from a different angle — the founder with no honest benchmark, the analyst who could see headlines but not patterns, the person sitting next to something remarkable and unable to make full sense of it.
The two had been in each other’s orbit since 2020. What started as a professional relationship deepened over time into something built on shared thinking and genuine trust. When they named the conviction out loud — that this ecosystem deserved a structured intelligence layer accessible to everyone, not just those who could afford enterprise data seats — the question stopped being whether to build it and became how. They knew exactly who they were building for. The mother who wants to understand what her son has spent the last two years building. The young woman who invested her family’s savings into her own startup and deserves to know where she stands. The analyst at a corporate trying to map a sector. The curious person in any city in India who has always wanted a place to go deeper.
This was never only a platform for investors. It was always for the whole ecosystem — and everyone living adjacent to it.
To turn conviction into a company, they needed someone who understood how to build the foundation that would let everything else stand on solid ground. Sai Ram Yadav brought fourteen years of financial discipline, international client experience, and a track record of building systems that give businesses the structure to grow. He came in and made it real — establishing the financial infrastructure, the compliance architecture, and the operational rigour that transformed an idea into an entity built to last.
But no company is built by its founders alone. Along the way, Indian Venture Labs has been shaped by a broader circle of people who believed in what was being built before there was much to show for it. Venture capitalists who took the time to share how they think. Founders who described what they actually needed, not what they thought they were supposed to need. Family office advisors who offered perspective on how patient capital sees a market. Early employees who showed up and did the work. And further back than any of that — the families who stood behind a founder through the uncertainty, the mentors who said keep going at exactly the right moment, the people who never appeared in a cap table but whose belief made the difference. Every ecosystem is, underneath its data and its deals, a human story. We are grateful to everyone who has been part of ours.
That is the origin of Indian Venture Labs. Three founders. A wider village. And a market that had been waiting, without knowing it was waiting, for exactly this.
Every ecosystem is, underneath its data and its deals, a human story. We are grateful to everyone who has been part of ours.
